Yesterday the #Nottinghamshire SLC visited the fascinating Creswell Crags 🦣 to review the #accessibility of exhibits and outdoor spaces. We are really looking forward to further collaboration And well done me for not losing any volunteers down the cave! 🙌🦣 Sight Loss Councils

🚆☕ Join us for 'Coffee and Chat' events with Govia Thameslink this October & November across train stations in London, the South East, and East of England! 📅✨ Let’s chat about train travel challenges and ways to #MakeTransportAccessible. 💬👩🦯 Learn more & book:

The #wafc result aside, the top class audio description from Neil and Tom at Cambridge United FC made for a much more enjoyable matchday experience yesterday. The stewards were also amazing in meeting my daughter’s mobility needs. Great inclusive practice! 👏

I absolutely love the dedication of our Sight Loss Councils volunteers. You know when you've got a good team when they send you photos of accessible signage whilst on holiday in Japan! These photos show tactile plates alerting passengers of train exits and the end of handrails. 👨🦯🇯🇵

Yesterday members of the #Derbyshire SLC delivered sight loss awareness to staff and volunteers from #Derby Museum of Making at Derby Silk Mill . Participants heard our volunteers' personal stories, learned about eye conditions and practised guiding a #blind visitor around the museum. Sight Loss Councils

You wait ages then two Thomas Pocklington Trust Engagement Managers come along together! Great day at “Euro Bus Expo networking on behalf of Sight Loss Councils to #MakeTransportAccessible.

Today the #Nottinghamshire Sight Loss Councils delivered vision awareness to NET Nottingham Tram and Tramlink Nottingham staff.the group discussed how to make tram travel #accessible and took part in a simulation glasses trip to experience a journey as a #blind or #PartiallySighted passenger. 🚊🧑🦯

Amazing what a bit of #AudioDescription and AudioCommentary can do to enhance an experience. Well done Winter Wonderland and Wembley Stadium for making my weekend so much more #inclusive. #VisualImpairment

A great couple of days for the #Nottinghamshire and #Derbyshire Sight Loss Councils discussing the #accessibility of museum exhibits with Creswell Crags 🦣 and Museum of Making at Derby Silk Mill . Amongst other things, we discussed audio-labelling devices, swell ink, QR and NaviLens® Empowering Visually Impaired codes.

Looking forward to sharing the work of Sight Loss Councils with delegates at today’s Skills for Care midlands conference. What a great opportunity to promote our vision awareness sessions to professionals from within the care sector.

Yesterday the #Nottinghamshire SLC delivered vision awareness to the wonderful Creswell Crags 🦣 education team. We covered #AudioDescription of artefacts, creating information in alternative formats, and sighted guiding. 🦣🧑🦯 ##AccessibleArtsAndCulture

I had a fascinating day last week talking through the #AudioDescription of handling exhibits with Hope from Derby Museums . It was such an immersive way to #MakeMuseumsAccessible to #blind and #PartiallySighted visitors. Here I am holding a 120,000 year old hippo scapula!

Today Sight Loss Councils volunteer Jules and I joined the #Derby #Access Panel to appraise the #accessibility of the impressive new @becketwelllive venue. Thanks to the receptive venue team for facilitating the productive chats a round #VisionImpairment.
