"New AI video model will make truth indistinguishable from fiction" worries society that honestly believes that vaccines cause autism, the 2020 election was stolen, masks don't help against COVID and there's a global conspiracy to make everyone a gay Muslim Marxist.

This is very misguided advice. Computers 30 years ago had 1 core, no GPU, very slow hard drives, even slower optic drives, no SIMD, very little cache and barely started doing out of order execution. Being efficient with a 486 is not comparable with today's hardware.

What happened? Did you run out of politicians to scare off to "regulate" the sector the way you wanted? Or are you worried that all the ppl you sold FOMO to with talks of "AGI is just around the corner" will come asking for some accountability with their receipts in hand?

IGN trying to be relevant again because an ex dev talked about a past experience on reddit. Pathetic excuse for journalism... nordic.ign.com/star-wars-batt…

Has anyone ever come out officially or unofficially on how they managed to make the biggest trilogy in their portfolio seemingly without the writers of each movie talking to each other? Come on, those are huge projects. Someone must have raised concerns during production, surely.

Turns out the definition of theft, piracy and plagiarism isn't as a legal or philosophical question but an economical one. Now where did I read about this whole "justice that depends on how much money you got" idea?

Stalker enhanced edition is a very faithful HD upgrade. It's still a buggy mess, still crashes randomly, doesn't handle alt-tab well, simulation still runs during cutscenes so you get murdered while the camera pans around, but with 10% nicer water shader!

Idk I think the 4th crusade is much more to blame than that Ottomans walking into a crumbling city state with delusions of grandeur from a long gone past.

I'm amazed by how many C projects big and small today do not come with the extern "C" guard for inclusion in C++. You'd think they all do it by now.

Turns out C++ mutexes and condition variables aren't moveable. Heap alloc and pointers for everyone! Value types are for losers! Hurray! 🥳

Wait episode 7 of the last of us season 2 was a season finale? An overdone cliffhanger followed by a "please wait a couple years for the next"? In 2025? That stuff is so 90s it should have died in 9/11.

Turns out the code they made was written by actual engineers rather than a wrapped api call to Cursor and somehow they found it a worse idea.
