Dr James Moroka (1891-1985) a medical doctor & farmer who led the ANC from 1949-1952. Moroka excelled at medical school at the University of Edinburgh & graduated in 1918. He qualified as a surgeon in the 1930's bt could not put his training to use because of the colour bar laws

Thami Mnyele (1948-1985) was a South African artist associated with the Black Consciousness movement and the ANC. He moved to Botswana & joined the Medu Art Ensemble in 1979 with his friend & activist Wally Serote. He was murdered by SAFD soldiers & they confiscated his art.
