Big 200m PB by 20yr old Jagga Pybus in Hobart last night. Down from 21.75 to 21.20 (+1.1). Moves to 5th Tasmanian all time. Hale and Despard ahead of him in a golden era for Tassie sprinting.

10.43 (-0.1) by Jagga Pybus today to move to 3rd on the Tasmanian All Time list behind Hale and Despard. Defended his State 100m title.

Great to see the 3 fastest ever Tasmanian men (Hale, Despard, Pybus) clashing over 100m at the Melbourne Track Classic on Saturday evening. With the fastest ever Tasmanian woman, Morgan Gaffney still at her peak we are in unprecedented times for Tasmanian sprinting.

Jagga Pybus gave us a glimpse of his enormous talent today, taking the win in his heat of the 200m at Nationals against 2 Olympians and finishing 5th Australian in the final in 21.24 (-0.9).

A Mason athletics squad relay team would be very competitive based on current PB’s : Jack Hale (10.12 +1.5) Jagga Pybus (10.40 +1.6) Oliver Elrick (10.77 +1.6) Max Brideson (10.85 +0.4) Apart from Hale all run in Hobart - not a renowned quick surface.

Unsurprised by misinformation surrounding Peter Bol but bitterly disappointed by Prof Dick Telford’s claim that EPO would have “no benefit whatsoever because he was tested well after his last competition”. Whichever side you’re on, false info helps nobody. abc.net.au/radio/programs…

To clarify, EPO administration has vast potential for benefit outside of comp through facilitation of training adaptations. All due respect to Telford - he’s a pioneer and a Sport Australia Hall of Famer for a reason. Let’s just hope there was some context missing.

On 26 Oct 1963, signed with a club and had my first race in athletics. It’s almost embarrassing that I have spent exactly 60 years today in the one sport. It’s as if I had nothing better to do with my time. At best a lap and a half to go.

Laura McShane has today broken Olympian Susan Andrews’ long standing (1990) Tasmanian 200m record with 23.53 (+1.5) in Hobart. The .87 pb sets her up for some quick 400’s this season.

Laura McShane has become only the 2nd Tasmanian behind Susan Andrews (51.55) to run sub 53 for the 400n when she recorded 52.87 at Hobart Interclub this morning. In her 1st 400m of the season she did it virtually solo after hitting the lead from lane 5 after only 60m.
