#OTD in 1897, Effa Manley was born in Philadelphia, PA. Famous for co-owning the Newark Eagles, she was also an ardent civil rights advocate. And in 2006, she became the first woman to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Here’s a color study depicting her in the 1910s.
