This week we’ve been preparing for our ‘Learning Showcase’ by planning a trip to Cardiff using public transport. We used online bus and train timetables to help us plan exact times and prices of our journey 🚌🚂

March has flown by. This month we are looking at article 7 - You have the right to a Name and Nationality Children, Young People and Education Committee

As part of our Learning Showcase, the children worked in groups to write their own scripts. They will use these to record their own promos using the school’s radio station. Stay tuned to see what they do with them…

We had a “cracking”Easter PACT session today. A huge thank you to all those who managed to spend the afternoon with us!

Wow! What amazing broadcasting skills used this week. We created promos from a script that we wrote to explain what the public should do when they find our special “Markham Rocks” pebbles.

What a week of learning! We spent time outdoors reading bus timetables, making sure the buses that run through the village, ran on time. We’re pleased to say Stagecoach Wales that most of them did!

A huge diolch yn fawr to the ‘Football First’ team for our skills session this morning. We can’t wait for the next session where we get to see how fast we can kick a football in to a set of goals. Mr. Thomas will be practicing over the Easter holidays that’s for sure! ⚽️ 🥅 💨

We’ve been putting the finishing touches to our learning showcase this week by painting our pebbles, ready for our Markham ‘rocks’: Pebble Travel Challenge. We most certainly put our creative skills to the test this week 🎨 😊

The pebbles are ready for their next big adventure! The children made questionnaires using Google Forms, created a radio broadcast with instructions & placed QR codes underneath each pebble. Now it’s time to see how far they travel-if you find one, take it on a journey!

This week the class learned how to create their own presentations using Google Slides. They then presented to the class about something that interests them. The digital and oracy skills displayed this week were absolutely outstanding! Ardderchog pawb! 😃

…and in the blink of an eye the Spring Term has come to an end! A huge diolch yn fawr to all our families for the support you’ve given this term. Your children have made so much progress, whilst having so much fun! Have a great Easter break with your families!

We took part in the 80th Anniversary of VE Day by baking our own Victoria sandwiches for an afternoon tea. The best part about it was being together and remembering those that brought peace to our country! #veday80thanniversary

During our Welsh Heritage project about Betty Campbell, we learnt about cultural differences by making traditional Caribbean patties. They were delicious and the children loved them!

To help raise money for the school, we saw what speed we could kick a ball in to a set of goals….It was quick! ⚽️

What a fantastic immersion day we’ve had today to start our new learning theme ‘Blas Am Bwydd’. A huge diolch by fawr to Pencoed Farm for showing us around your amazing farm!

We ended our visit by enjoying a delicious ice cream🍦Farmer David makes his ice cream using milk from his farm; It’s genuinely the best ice cream we’ve ever tasted!! The perfect way to end a Friday 🐮🍦😋
