@marketing_chap

Absolute brick of a chap working in marketing, pr, and social media. Also likes cricket on a decent wicket, a good smoke, and anyone who is a good egg.

People have long been saying ‘print is dead’ but it is becoming clear that digital was dead from the start – at least as a sole revenue source. So what now? Our first proper article on #MediaVoices voices.media/is-digital-dyi…

As you know, chaps, man cannot live by bread alone. If provided bread, tea, perique pipe tobacco, and BBC Radio 4 however, I daresay I would be just fine. And biscuits.

Ever dream about showing up for a client pitch unprepared, chaps?David Davis MP's appearance before the @commonseuexit yesterday easily trump your worst nightmares. independent.co.uk/news/uk/politi…

Not sure what to make of this promotional insert in Prospect, chaps: an envelope that on front and back says merely, 'Not for you.' Do I dare open it?

What would you say is the single most important technological innovation for remote working in the history of mankind? I am in no doubt about this one, chaps: wifi in pubs.

Question of the day, chaps: would you trust a marketer who is unable to market himself adequately? As in presentation, branding, people skills and all that.

Back in the Dear Green Place today, chaps, and met up with the delightful Cameron Clarke for an hour or so. He wanted to pose for a picture with my famous pipe, of course. Next The Drum blog post now planned for January...

In Glasgow for the first time ever in December. It gets light around 8:30am, and the skies begin to darken just after 2pm. Most discombobulating. Is there an equivalent to jetlag for traveling north? If so, chaps, I have a bad case.

Back in my native land again, chaps, after a sojourn with our Caledonian cousins. I am enjoying my jaunts in Glasgow tremendously, however it is somewhat a strain having to constantly having to repeat myself to chaps who struggle to understand the Queen's English.

So few chaps and chapettes in the office today, it is only a matter of time till all discipline breaks down. Personally, I can't wait, of course.

Most informative. I'd say enjoyable as well, but I'm afraid 2017 has been a real stinker for the media world and this is reflected (most accurately) in this episode. Highly recommended. x.com/Flipping_Pages…

I would never be so gauche as to refer to myself as a 'Digital Guru,' chaps, but I am happy to share this highly amusing piece which labels me thus. linkedin.com/pulse/crappy-h…

Dear client, This email about something trivial is sent to emphasize that I am toiling away long after you called a day on 2017. I send this only to ensure you dare not quibble about paying my full retainer at month's end. Me (the unwritten subtext of every email sent this week)

Happy New Year, chaps and chapettes! Begin as you mean to go on: clutching a cup of one's caffeine source of choice, find a quiet place, crank up the laptop, and do one's best to appear productive.

If you're still considering which new year's resolution to plump for, can I recommend #DryJanuary? I find the benefits of this campaign most beneficial. Most notably, there is less competition for the barman's attention and I am served more quickly.
