When I moved to London to go to uni in the 1980s, people couldn’t wait to get out. Population had fallen to 6.8m. Everything was closing. Now people flock to the greatest city on earth - pop 9m. The city is transformed. Nobody forces you to live here. If you don’t like it..bye!

Imagine being so unpatriotic that you talk down the greatest city in the world. What is wrong with these scared little boys?

Thank you Mehdi Hasan for saying this and doing so in such a clear way. It’s alarming that there are so many people who seem to find it much harder to articulate. Thoughts and prayers with the Jewish community on such a sad day.

An abomination of a Test match. Regardless of result. It’s not entertainment, it’s mediocrity. It’s certainly not Test cricket. A bitterly sad day for this once grand game. Players, coaches & curator all culpable. Diabolical. #Ashes
