Devon has lost the scone wars. Basically everywhere in Britain uses the 'Cornish method' (i.e. jam first). Even in Devon itself, only 49% use the 'Devon method' (i.e. cream first), while 46% go jam first yougov.co.uk/society/articl…

The final battle of the Prayer Book Conflict was fought this day in 1549 at Sampford Courtenay. In the suppression that followed, hundreds of Cornish were killed, institutions supporting Cornish culture were forcibly closed & the Cornish language declined in use #ethnocide 1/2

Cornish priests were hung from their church towers in chains; connections with Celtic Brittany were cut; chapels, shrines, hospitals and colleges were closed and Cornwall ceased appearing on maps as a separate nation. The Tudor Anglicisation project #ethnocide

Great to see the brand new crossing and wider pavement on Arragon Road by St Mary's Primary School, ready to open for the new school year. Thanks to residents for their patience during construction. Several new trees will be added in the winter planting season 🌳🌳

The Cornish Royalist army routed the Parliamentarians at the Battle of Lostwithiel on this day in 1644. It was the heaviest defeat for the Parliamentarians of the entire Civil War - thousands were taken prisoner and many fleeing the battle were set upon by Cornish civilians.

A rare chance to hear Kneehigh’s The Wild Bride on ⁦⁦BBC Sounds⁩ for the next 30 days. It’s a gorgeous-sounding devilish folktale with the show’s original cast and music. Do toon in! ⚡️⚡️⚡️ bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/b0…

At this point, even to give oxygen to this notorious liar and the only PM ever to have to resign in disgrace is to collude in his contempt for the public. Shame on any media outlet that gives him and his wretched book exposure

Can someone please explain to me why English, Irish, Scottish, Welsh AND Cornish were accepted national identities in the 2021 Census of England & Wales, yet Cornwall isn’t represented on the Council of Nations and Regions. To which nation does my identity belong?

There's nothing 'landmark' about the speech. And what duty does he have to the Commonwealth? three quarters of member states are republics, fewer than 10% of the CW population have Charles as head of state. He doesn't run it, it doesn't need him.

Yesterday, I attended the Duolingo event in Parliament. I highlighted the importance of our very own Cornish language, Kernewek, and asked them to include it as an option for learners.
