This needs to be called out. Oceania Cruises recently announced four new 2026 "eclipse" cruises positioned "in the path of more than 90 percent totality." There's no such thing as 90 percent "totality." Passengers will see a *partial* solar eclipse only on these four cruises.

April 30, all SCASD schools will be closed due to power outages at six of our 12 schools from the storm yesterday. All afterschool activities and CEEL are cancelled. Central office employees should report to work as usual because the Panorama Village building has power.

May 1, SCASD schools will start with a 2-hour delay. We believe we will be able to have school because all schools have either regained power or are operating with generators. However, we need more time to develop a plan for buses affected by lingering road closures.

NOAA's widely-used billion dollar disasters database is being retired, the agency revealed today, and will now span the years 1980-2024. Staff cuts, narrowing of focus (and scrutiny of climate-related datasets) are to blame. cnn.com/2025/05/08/cli…
