Centre forward Frederick John Kurz b.Grimsby 1918 - d.1978 Made his FL debut for Grimsby Town on the 17/9/1938 at home to Derby. Served in the Army & was in Singapore when it was captured by Japan in 1942 Post war played for Crystal Palace (1946-50), Boston United & Wisbech Town

NEW PLAYER ALERT! Henry (Harry) Johnston played once for #GTFC at inside right in April 1921. He'd been in Port Vale's reserves and moved on to Darlaston at the end of the season for a short time. Thanks to MarinerMen for his help! Heritage number #396 marinersarchive.com

NEW PLAYER ALERT! Herbert Ayre - defender from local football played for #GTFC during the 1904/5 season. Fought with the Grimsby Chums at the Battle of the Somme, shot in the chest and leg, he eventually crawled back from No Man's Land to the tranches. marinersarchive.com
