Same and my 6th graders always call me a boomer 😭

We all have a limit to our emotional gas tank for empathy and compassion. So, if you feel like you can't give it to others, then sometimes we need to give compassion to ourselves first.

The single best way to ensure that the kids finish the year strong… is for the adults to finish the year strong.

I told one of my students today that she had the highest grade in my class (math) and she smiled so wide (could even tell through the mask). Seeing young girls excelling in STEM makes me so unbelievably happy

Students will never get tired of you saying to them over and over again, "I am proud of you."

This week, some students asked to come out to their classmates during my class. It was one of the most beautiful and bonding experiences that our class has had all year 🥲

Last day of in-person school for my cohort A students. Lots of hugs, tears, and laughter. Oh, and candy. Lots of candy. And then more laughter.

Last day of my first year of teaching!

Vaccinated people can still get covid. Vaccinated people can still get covid. Vaccinated people can still get covid. This puts educators at so much risk it isn’t even funny.

Low key…I’ve missed pre-7am wake ups. Happy first day of PD to me!

I’m trying to more consciously use the term “educators” to describe people who work in schools because we’re not all teachers, but we ARE all educators

Wow, I am coming home more tired than I ever have before. And the consensus in my building is that I’m not the only one. I feel like workplaces (regardless of if you’re in a school or not) SEVERELY underestimated the emotional, mental, and physical toll of being back in person.

In all honesty, this school year has been pretty tough. Thankful for a 3 day weekend and a fresh start on Tuesday

My students’ Questbridge decisions come out today and I’m honestly not sure who is more nervous, me or them 😅
