We had a great opening session of FSG”s 50th Anniversary celebration event today. Thanks to Matin Qaim, Derek Byerlee and Jeffrey Bloem for sharing their wisdom on the what & how of the future of food security research for policy impact. Lots of food 4 thought for the next 50 years.

We also had two insightful panel discussions with participation by William A. Masters, @michelson_hope, Vincenzina Caputo, Ben Belton on research and Thom Jayne, Orachos Napasintuwong, Madina Guloba and Ayala Wineman on partnership & collaboration. Thanks to all for sharing your experiences and wisdom.

Believe it or not, this was my first tailgate experience after spending more than 35 football seasons MSU. It was like non-stop picnics with food, drinks, and people of all ages all around you.

We had a successful two day conference hosted by Tegemeo Institute on the theme of Sustainable Futures-the influence of policies, programs and economic factors in Kenya”s agriculture & well-being. This was an event funded under the SARA-KEA project of MSU AFRE Food Security Group.

There is always an opportunity to take a photo with fellow Spartans at a conference in Africa.

I gave a research seminar @ Univ of Nairobi on the topic of Kenya”s food environments in urban and peri urban Kenya and its influence on diet quality. I enjoyed the discussion and Q&A session. I think the learning was bidirectional. Here’s a group photo of seminar attendees.
