Indeed... using #MIGNEX survey data Marta Bivand Erdal Marcela G. Rubio and I show that those exposed to violence and conflict make nuanced considerations about leaving - and most do not want to leave

#MIGNEX2024 Academic Conference University of Oxford COMPAS is underway! 💫 Already some super interesting insights and discussions on the use of development aid for #migration control and deportation enforcement, but also how migration can actually lead to positive #development.

Starting Day 2 of the #MIGNEX24 conference COMPAS with a keynote by the wonderful @marysetrana, who unfortunately could not make it in person due to visa delays (this in itself reinforcing the many inequalities & challenges in migration from the global south)

Back from the intense & inspiring IMISCOE conference! I presented findings on the impact of changing official status in Greece and #MIGNEX research on the causes of migration but most importantly, met lots of interesting people & reconnected w/ old old friends & my sister.

Excellent article on why Bukele’s gang crackdown has succeeded (so far) when many similar iron-fist interventions have previously failed. As the authors discuss, this has come at a high cost: "El Salvador has become a country 'without gangs and without democracy'"
