Our collaborative work with Rachna Chaba is out! Long-chain fatty acids fuel E. coli but cause redox stress; we showed that CpxAR two-component system balances this by suppressing LCFA metabolism! Our fellow for the day: Why Rachna Chaba looks into TB? Fats are a rich source of energy for bacteria. However, work in her laboratory over a decade in the model bacterium E. coli showed that feasting on fats can actually harm bacteria until they use certain defense mechanisms.










It was a pleasure to host Rachna Chaba at Department of Biotechnology, IIT Hyderabad, two years after our Ist collaboration chat on X! Her talk on sugar acid metabolism in enteric bacteria was a hit. My lab folks also pitched their projects for her feedback. Super excited about the ongoing collaborative ideas!!
