Although I reviewed the original Dead Rising years ago, I felt that I didn’t do its deeper themes justice, so here is a review of both it and its sequel in the viewpoint of the horror of exploitation. As always, read, share, and let me know your thoughts! medium.com/@thelegendaryt…

penguin i think it goes back to the idea that videogames being based on technology implies they can simply never be perfected and are doomed to be outdated. which i fundamentally disagree with. especially when it comes to PS2 games where most of them look as great as they've ever looked

Old movies that survive the test of time are good because they creatively neutered their technological limitations. Using AI to "modernize" them ironically only serves to highlight those very hindrances.

really sucks that this is marred with technical problems still. ubisoft could’ve at least done a bit of tweaking for this release, it’s a huge moment to get pandora tomorrow back on pc anyway check out RohanKar for totally unrelated reasons

Classic RE1-3 will always be valuable as works of art and as fun escapism becuase they reinvented a genre. Adventure games became SURVIVAL HORROR. Re2/3 remake, while great in their own right are iterating on RE4’s basic formula, not even the games they’re trying to reimagine

Remarkable. This piece, written by Jake Tapper, helps construct a pretext for Israel to resume full-scale operations in Gaza. Zero mention of the *multiple* attacks by Israeli forces over the past few days. Instead, he writes, “But so far, the tenuous ceasefire has held.”

I've enjoyed several of the remakes (RE1make, RE2R/4R, Dead Space remake), but they should *never* be replacements for the original works. We must strive to preserve them as important foundations of genres and to allow future players and designers to access them easily.
