There are 13,000 chemicals used in plastics. Of those, 3,000 are considered "of concern" (aka hazardous), 6,000 THAT WE HAVE NO SAFETY DATA ON(!), & the remaining 4,000 are not considered problematic. We need to get toxic chemicals out of plastic & stop making so much plastic.

In the 1970s—during an actual fiscal crisis—the @nycparks budget was 1.2% of the NYC budget, and there were 12,000 workers. In 2024, the @nycparks budget is only 0.5% of the NYC budget, and there are 8,000 workers. When it comes to investing in our parks, we are moving backwards.
