Sometimes students have trouble determining which form of punctuation to use. Conventions are a component of many LA tasks This activity helps students determine appropriate use of punctuation, and of course the stickers make this activity engaging for students. During placement, I noticed students used a Q-Chart in their class. A Q-Chart helps students develop rich, hardy questions to ask themselves as they read independent novels, or the class read aloud. A great idea to incorporate media literacy! Students create cereal boxes where they think critically about the elements of media and incorporating it into their own piece. I think it would be fun to have the students bring an empty cereal box from home! PJ Language Arts Methodology UWindsor

I found this resource which made me think about the importance of teaching practical skills into the curriculum. Have students write a letter as an assignment, then address an envelope.
