Maine EMS will discontinue the process of notifying EMS clinicians and EMS agency leadership about presumed or known positive COVID-19 patient interactions. Effective July 1, 2024, Maine EMS will no longer send the automated daily notifications. maine.gov/ems/node/1715

Effective Monday, July 1, 2024, Maine EMS will activate a MEFIRS validation rule requiring EMS clinicians to document the Incident Facility Name when the incident location type equals "Hospital" or "Nursing Home." maine.gov/ems/node/1729

Until June 25, 2024, HIPAA allowed covered entities to disclose PHI for law enforcement purposes under specific conditions. Recent amendments clarify that disclosure is only allowed under certain conditions. More info at maine.gov/ems/node/1741
