Thanks Lauren Schmidt for showing us how to use super phase diagrams to identify the therapeutic window for a drug to affect a condensate, last week. Super cool stuff! ICYMI the video is now online: condensates.com/resources/vide…

Shout out to my Rohatgi Lab labmate and 2021 Forbeck Scholar Lauren Schmidt! One of the most driven and innovative scientists I have ever met. Building new tools to study intrinsically disordered proteins in the context of cancer and aging. Currently on the academic job market!👇

Julio Flores Servin's thesis work Stanford Biochemistry in the StraightLab is now out there in the wild! Repression of CENP-A assembly in metaphase requires HJURP phosphorylation and inhibition by M18BP1 biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Are you interested in how life works at the molecular level? Do you love lots of data? The Pinney Lab is starting at UC San Francisco and is seeking applicants for a research tech. position using cutting-edge microfluidic technologies to understand enzyme evolution! pinneylabucsf.com/available-posi…

Excited to share our review “DNA Electrostatics: From Theory to Application”…mistry-europe.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.100… out in ChemElectroChem. Special thanks to Lauren Schmidt and Shahar Sukenik for great discussions and advice.

Do you want to learn something new about electrostatics of nucleic acid compaction? Check out our new work “Direct Measurement of Interhelical DNA Repulsion and Attraction by Quantitative Cross-Linking” pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ja… out in Journal of the American College of Surgeons (JACS)

Exited to share work from Steve L. Bonilla with Quentin Vicens that used cryo-EM to direct visualize, for the first time, what a MISfolded RNA caught in a 'kinetic trap' looks like in 3D. Preprint here and story below. biorxiv.org/cgi/content/sh…

Happy to share our new cryo-EM study with Jeffrey Kieft Quentin Vicens , of a kinetically trapped folding intermediate of a ribozyme. Here we show the native and trapped states, and the type of rearrangements that would be required to escape the trap (a MODEL consistent with biochem.)

So excited DiMeLo-seq is finally out! As Aaron Streets says this was a real dream team of fun science. Such a great group to work with. Who says Berkeley and Stanford University can't play together?! #dimelo #science

Out today! Our latest collaboration with the amazing @LugerLab. Keda (cody) Zhou Magdalena Gebala Kousik Sundararajan Wereszczynski Lab Dustin C. Woods, Ph.D. AnqilaNft GarrettEdwards show a new role for #centromere #chromatin condensation by CENP-N. nature.com/articles/s4159…

Such a wonderful group of scientists to work with Stanford Biochemistry CU Boulder 🦬 and Illinois Tech! #collaboration Also check out the N&V by Juan Ausió and Katrina V Good. nature.com/articles/s4159…
