Students in Emily Rosenman's Urban Geography course began the semester by exploring downtown State College to observe relationships between social processes and the built environment. They documented uses of space and discussed how social and spatial processes are interrelated.

Fire proof trees? The Canary Pine, found only on the Canary Islands, has extremely thick bark that makes it fireproof, allowing it to survive raging wildfires! The picture below shows pines with burnt black bark, but their green leaves show they're still alive! GeoTenerife Summer Programme
This is a perfect example of how the #LaPalma volcanic landscape has been reworked by the wind. In the photo below you can see ripples on top of tephra deposits. Therefore, we can’t be sure what eruption this tephra has come from and need to be careful when sampling. GeoTenerife Summer Programme
