I want to lead an agenda for real change. Change in the Health Service. Change in helping people through the cost of living crisis. I want to lead for everyone. I want to be a First Minister for all.

After all the events in Clones yesterday it puts to bed the argument of other venues for an Ulster final. Clones is the Mecca. What an atmosphere. Proper investment there would only improve things. After yesterday it might need a Brendan Rogers statue.

It’s with deep regret that I learned of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.   The British people will miss the leadership she gave as monarch.   I would like to offer my sincere sympathies and condolences to her children, and wider family as they come to terms with their grief 1/4

between our two islands.   Throughout the peace process she led by example in building relationships with those of us who are Irish, and who share a different political allegiance and aspirations to herself and her Government. 3/4

Having met Queen Elizabeth on a number of occasions alongside my colleague, the late Martin McGuinness, I appreciated both her warmth and courtesy. 4/4

Tonight, we hold in prayer before the Lord and through the intercession of Our Mother Mary, the people of Creeslough and all those who serve and support them in the emergency services. “Let my prayer come into your presence. O turn your ear to my cry.” (Ps 87).

I pause to pray for the late Eamon Phoenix, a brilliant historian, a superb teacher and an outstanding gentleman. During his years teaching in Saint Michael’s he was an inspiration to all. May he be rewarded ahundredfold for all his goodness

I ask all my friends to vote for Matthew Finn as the minor player of the year. He has been a source of strength and scores throughout the whole season.

My heartfelt prayers and deepest sympathy go out to all the families and to the young people and schools who are suffering because of this tragic accident this evening.

Is it time to move away from the many false starts in the development of Casement Park. Should we develop St Tiernach’s Park in Clones. It is the traditional home of Ulster finals and has atmosphere and a more central location. Why not begin a campaign for redeveloping Clones now

The final morning of our first school trip to Rome was most definitely the highlight! At the end of General Audience in Saint Peter’s Square we got the chance to meet the Holy Father, Pope Francis. He assured us of his prayers for all our students, staff and their families.

Today in the Vatican,Archbishop Scicluna, an advisor to Pope Francis recommended that’s the question of priestly celibacy should be looked at seriously. I fully agree with him. Few young men today are considering priesthood because of the obligation of celibacy. Pray for change
