This last week I've been on National Deployment for flooding, been at a large animal rescue, helped isolate water for a flooding at a flat and had some training to work on our boat. 2 years ago I worked at a desk...!

This afternoon I hid in the (wet!) woods and let our search dogs find me. Dogs bodies are vital in helping these handlers train their dogs in finding vulnerable missing people. #LowlandRescue #SAR #SearchAndRescue

A frozen lake or waterway may look safe but you can’t tell whether the ice is thick enough to hold your weight. If you do see a person or animal in difficulty do not try to rescue them yourself as you could end up in trouble as well. Instead call 999.

Apprenticeship complete, results back and now a competent Firefighter! Very happy indeed. The developmental orange dots came off today which feels like a massive relief and quite scary too!

We’re asking parents to supervise their children in and around water. It can be fun to cool off in water, but structures such as bridges, locks, flood channels, canals, quarries and reservoirs should be avoided. Make sure they know the RNLI’s Float to Live rnli.org/safety/float

One of my busiest + best days at work for a while. Working at height drill followed by pumping from open water. Then a water rescue job. The afternoon was a community event for foster families then a house fire where we rescued some animals. Being able to help people was amazing.

At 1037hrs the team were requested to assist East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust with an injured walker. Person was assisted to ambulance 1km away using wheeled stretcher. We wish them a speedy recovery. Also a big thank you to Waterloo Farm Leisure Ltd for their assistance and hospitality.
