German youth (18-26 years) majority (51%, up 36pp) for Putin fellow travellers and assorted anti-system parties: - 25% for DieLinke - 20% for AfD - 6% for BSW (Stalinist). Like in France and the UK, could be the last chance for pro-system parties to show they can govern.

I don't doubt Kevin on this, but what is a good paper? A lot of "good papers" have zero added value other than to authors' CVs. A lot of them are wrong. I don't doubt AI can write a paper. Can it write one that is useful, insightful, and correct, and can it tell the difference?

Wow! This project looks amazing. In it, three scientists at Columbia, Michigan, and Maryland introduce VRscores: a measure of the partisan leanings of employers in the United States. The dataset is constructed by linking U.S. voter registrations to online worker profiles.

Regardless of what you made of Biden-era industrial policy, is an amazingly grim irony that US tariffs are being raised with the stated aim of reindustrialising America, ignoring an *actual generational boom in industrial investment* which the tariffs now pose a huge threat to.

Now that everyone is talking about the impact of AI on labor, here is a quick thread with some key findings from the broader literature. TLDR; there is some evidence of both, AI enhancing and reducing gaps among low- and high-performers. Pull the thread to learn more 🧵👇

American exports *increase* when universities educate international students. In 2024, the US exported over $50B in education services --comparable to motor vehicle exports. If the US wants to reduce its trade deficit, it is counterproductive to ban international students.
