Chris Murphy 🟧 You're being played by people who want regulatory capture. They are scaring everyone with dubious studies so that open source models are regulated out of existence.

Cute little idea for crystal radio building / restoration: a diode (Soviet era Д311 in this case, which has the lowest Vf I’ve ever seen compared to other germanium diodes) is mounted inside a 3AG fuse body, so it can be clipped into a standard neat fuseholder.

Honestly that just looks like a mess. What’s the intended outcome - insulation for UHV bakeout, or electromagnetic shielding?

Last night I stayed up late to write a mega-thread on the terrible mess that is NSW transmission planning. But I forgot to add the chapter that turns farce into tragedy. All was foretold. By the Energy Security Board. But they were ignored. 1/

It's been taken down now, but in archives you can find that the Smart Energy Council boasted that they: "Oversaw the demise of the Energy Security Board" as one of their big 2023 achievements. At least we know who to blame for the current mess. 8/ web.archive.org/web/2024120317…

Fitting a silicon photomultiplier and the bias voltage for it on a mouse-sized scope is impressive, too. I guess it doesn’t have the spatial resolution of an image sensor but the sensitivity would unlock interesting things.

Look honestly I have nothing against chiros and think there definitely are situations when they’re needed for example: you want a massage but also want it to be dangerous

This is the problem- CSIRO politicised and too interested in vapid PR marketing. 1993 patent refers to 60-61 GHz spectrum, not so relevant to IEEE 802.11 working group which CSIRO wasn’t part of. Dimethyl phthalate was not as effective a repellent and was soon replaced by DEET.

Travelling around, running around during business hours because Australia Post does not do their one job, which they have been contracted to do, paid to do, which is to deliver the item to the address specified. When there is a failure / refusal to deliver, they should refund.
