Cracking day on Fair Isle Bird Observatory yesterday with rares arriving throughout the day, was luck enough to connect with a couple, my favorite being the Daurian Shrike, what a beauty. And who doesn’t love a Hoopoe !

Nice birding around Fair Isle Bird Observatory the last week or so, still Yellow-Browed Warblers arriving adding to many that are already in the UK, this Arctic Redpoll and a cracking Shorelark today adding to the wintery feel. BirdGuides

Red-necked Grebe riding the waves off the west cliffs Fair Isle Bird Observatory today - the 26th isle record and just the 5th in the last 25 years. Another quality Luke Marriner find in grim conditions, with gale force SE winds and lashing rain for most of today. More to be found tomorrow...

A nice arrival of birds in Fair Isle Bird Observatory yesterday mainly thrushes and robins but the obvious highlight was our 3rd Arctic Warbler of the year, this one showing well around Upper Stoneybrek. Also very cool to see Woodcock on the tide line! Rusty Dot Pearl, just the 4th isle record!

There’s no place like Fair Isle Bird Observatory, but it’s the people that really make a season, and I couldn’t have wished for two more altogether brilliant ones to share this one with - it’s been an absolute blast boys ❤️

Great to see this very obliging White-Rumped Sandpaper in Devon on the way to Lundy Bird Observatory tomorrow! What an amazing bird it is, not fussed by the passing dog walkers and cars! Don’t they look so angry 🤣 A late Northern Wheatear also present BirdGuides

It has been a cracking year on Dream Island, this in no small part thanks to our brilliant Long-term Volunteers. If you'd like to be part of the 2025 team, take a look at this: bit.ly/48Ja9Jx

An incredible experience watching a pod of 6 Orca Fair Isle Bird Observatory yesterday evening. Amazing to watch them skirting the cliffs around Buness before heading south.
