Apparently ENT surgeons now using FFP3 for OPD and ward round even in non-covid approved by PHE....where is the same protection for anaesthetists intubating non-covid patients? Susan Hopkins Royal College of Anaesthetists AoA Department of Health and Social Care Professor Chris Whitty
Could not agree with this more! Please keep us safe! We need the right PPE at the right time. Update the guidelines to allow use of FFP3 masks for aerosol generating procedures on *all* patients, even asymptomatic ones! @PHE_uk Royal College of Anaesthetists Boris Johnson #NHS #nhsworkers
If this is no time for complacency, why aren't NHS England ensuring the safety of front line workers? There is not enough PPE. The guidelines prioritise rationing of resources, rather than staff and patient safety. This disguises the problem. #notsafe #NHS #PPE richard horton
Agree. I think a lot of us will come out of this feeling abandoned by the organisations that are supposed to be protecting us. How do we carry on, when we know that the people who are supposed to care actually view us as being disposable? #NHS #PPE #anaesthetist Royal College of Anaesthetists
How about looking after our mental health by making sure we feel safe in our workplaces? Change the guidance so that we can use adequate PPE for high risk (aerosol generating procedures) in *all* patients, not just those with suspected or confirmed #COVID19 @PHE_uk Royal College of Anaesthetists
YES! Very worried about this too. Still being instructed to intubate and extubate asymptomatic patients with only a surgical face mask on. Please stop gambling with the lives of front line staff! @PHE_uk NHS England Royal College of Anaesthetists FICMNews Bolton NHS Foundation Trust Dr Samantha Batt-Rawden 💙 richard horton
Dear The Independent The #NHS is working as hard as it’s ever worked. My colleagues in #emergency Dept, #paediatrics and #orthotwitter & #handsurgery are begging people to minimise activities that might lead to trauma & hospital So please, take this down #COVID19 #medtwitter
Really interesting, Tim Dornan, enjoyed it very much. Dave Hodgson, you might be interested in this. Picks up on a few of the things we were discussing recently: psychological safety, mutual safety, complexity and why rigid guidelines (often) don't work. tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…
