We have responded to multiple crashes on the bypass this morning. Road conditions on the bypass are icy. Please avoid the bypass and slow down for the morning commute.

Please avoid Jackson Road btwn Jackson & Kern by the 4-H fairgrounds. County police are investigating a single vehicle crash which resulted in the death of driver, no other passengers. More info will be released by SJCPD later.

Social media reports that an unload semi-auto handgun was found today at Wilson Primary School are INCORRECT. A student was discovered to have a plastic toy gun with an orange cap. At this time there is no safety concern at the school.

APPREHENDED. As a jury deliberated in his trial for rape and domestic battery charges, Monsivais cut off his GPS band. After a 7 day hunt thru multiple counties, Monsivais was arrested by our County Warrants team and will be returned to back to the court.

Police are searching for 23yr-old down syndrome male. Daniel Ratkiewicz, (w/m) (likely not clothed) missing since 8:00 am from near State Road 2 and Sonora Ave. Anyone with information please call 9-1-1.

This morning SJCPD was called to Clay High for report of gun. The school placed on lockdown for a period of time. Upon investigation multiple toy guns were found in a backpack of a student. No threats and no criminal actions were committed and no arrests made.

Please avoid the area of SR 23 and Walnut Road, just north of Walkerton, IN. Officers are investigating a serious injury crash involving two passenger vehicles. FACT has been requested to assist with the investigation. SR 23 is blocked off between Rockstroh Rd & Walnut Rd.

🚨 Traffic Alert 🚨 Please avoid McKinley Hwy & Cedar Trail. McKinley Hwy. is expected to closed for both east and westbound for several hours. Officers on scene of 2 vehicle crash involving a passenger car & motorcycle. FACT has been dispatched to handle in the investigation.

SJCPD are on scene of ultralight plane crash landing on Wild Heather Drive near Grant road. There are no injuries. Pilot is unharmed. The ultralight landed without causing damage to homes or structures.

Bypass Delay this morning. After 4 Four vehicle crash, eastbound lanes of Bypass just east of Capital/Elm backed on east bound bypass. Currently only one lane of traffic is moving eastbound, expect to open up both lanes sometime after 7am.

County Police are on scene of a shooting at the Quality Inn on S. Dixie Way in Roseland. One male victim with gunshot to abdomen was taken by ambulance to ER. Shooting suspect is believed to have fled scene. Police are interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence.

Roseland PD & County SWAT were on scene in Village Green park searching for a person of interest in yesterday’s Quality Inn shooting. The individual was not located in the mobile home park. Police continue investigating this shooting and their search for a suspect.

Roads are wet & snow covered w/icy patches in spots, conditions worsen as you travel east. County Officers have responded to 2 minor traffic accidents this morning, both on roads with higher speeds (on Bypass & on 331) drivers who lost control of vehicle in snow/ice on.

Traffic Alert: train is disabled and blocking the Douglas crossing west of Capital Ave. This closure is currently causing major traffic backups in the area and County Police ask drivers to please avoid Douglas Road west of Capital Ave and east of Fir Road.
