This is the European mindset on everything. We would rather be 20% poorer to be 1% safer. Everything we do is massively over engineered and regulated, with no thought to cost, in order to remove the tiniest bit of risk.

It will be interesting to hear the supporters of this terrible deal try to defend the fact that Chagossians, universally hate it. They can't stand Mauritia. They abused Chagossian citizens for decades. They have spoke out against this deal for years.

Baffling how much of Britain’s conversation about the bin strikes entirely sidesteps their actual cause—and all-but-misleads the public about what’s going on. (Piece of mine on this ⬇️)

And this is what is causing things like Xmas markets, 40s weekends, small village summer fairs, local music festivals to be scrapped. The cost & time of doing all this planning & the required safety measures & insurance is all too much.

We subsidise reliable generation to be available when the wind doesn't blow, but our gas fired power stations are mostly very old. There is a suggestion in the data that many will not be available when called upon.

Another example of this Government misleading rhetoric as Andrew Neil points out today. All Governments have done this to a degree but none quite so heavily as this one. Where everything needs fact checking.

Come on man. Prices are still hundreds higher than when Labour made this promise. This is why people have had enough of the main political parties. Feeding us shit and pretending it's caviar.

Looks like the (partial) restoration of the winter fuel payment could be just as botched as the original decision to restrict it... 🙄

The Tories biggest problem is many of its MPs will do absolutely anything to keep their jobs. Whether it's stabbing leaders in the back or bringing back failed former leaders they think are popular. This desperation is their ultimate downfall.

Ofgem just cut the price cap for Jul-Sep 2025. What's been driving our electricity bills since the price cap came into force? Mostly Net Zero stuff. A thread 🧵(1/n)

It's quite windy today, but the actual generation is some 8GW short of forecast from yesterday. How can we run a reliable and affordable grid with such poor forecasting?

'Lots of people will chase polls and give easy answers - I'm going to do the right thing.' Conservative Leader Kemi Badenoch MP responds to Nigel Farage's promise to scrap the two-child benefits cap and reverse winter fuel payment cuts.

Kemi Badenoch (@kemibadenoch) 's Twitter Profile Photo

We cannot continue like this. Labour and Farage want to scrap the two-child cap, but have no plan to pay for it… 🚨The public are fed up of politicians making false promises. I won’t lie to get votes. We need to be honest. Government cannot and should not do everything.

No doubt Farage gives his opinion straight, at least more straight than most other politicians. Meanwhile, his spending pledges have a black hole of anywhere between ÂŁ60bn and ÂŁ200bn. So is he telling the truth or just what you want to hear?
