Maintaining strong stoichiometric homeostasis of leaf P, while maintaining conservative economy of N, is a key physiochemical mechanism for shaping species abundance distribution in P-limited forests Liting besjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/13…

Why is there such diversity of trait & life history variation? Hypothesis... there is actually a deep unity to the diversity of life Our latest paper 'Toward a general theory of plant carbon economics' Led by @matisscastorena proposes a novel predictive theory to explain why 🧵

Looking for tree traits? Together with our new paper in Ecology Letters we also published a comprehensive set of 36 physicochemical traits of 75 European woody plants. Data is publicly available online at: datadryad.org/stash/dataset/…

🗞️New Paper in Plant Biology🗞️(1/5) Interested in #forests, #drought, #biodiversity? We show that the traits of trees 🌳and their neighbours determine biodiversity-ecosystem functioning relationships in forests. 🌟After a long study, we found that competition induced higher intraspecific trait variability in inferior species than superior species. Big thanks to my collaborative mentors, Prof. Guochun Shen and Carlos P. Carmona, for their guidance and partnership.

We found that the lower ratio of proportional changes in P vs. N for females likely reflects stronger P limitation for their vegetative growth as they require greater P investments in fruiting, indicating a sex-specific optimization under unequal reproductive requirements.
