We make over four million students take the PSAT every year. They compete for one of just 2500 scholarships. Their odds are roughly comparable to a random teenage football player making it to the NFL. Just think about that waste of school time, energy, and mental health.

Can’t remember who I stole this from, but responding to students who answer ‘don’t know’ with ‘tell me the question I just asked’ has been very illuminating! Would recommend.

Unpopular opinion: I don't think high schoolers should be forced to read classic literature. I know, I wasn't ready until much later. Rather, I'd like to see them read contemporary fiction that meets them where they are and turns them into lifelong readers. That's our future.

Standardized tests are typically designed for half of the test takers to miss each question to create a norm reference. Often created by individuals with little pedagogical background. So companies can sell textbooks, practice tests, etc. for said standardized tests.

Houston spread the word: there’s a $20 Lyft credit tonight for anyone in Montgomery and Harris County. To use it, all you have to do is use the code TXDOT20. Saying no to drunk driving will keep tonight’s fun from turning into tomorrow’s nightmare.

So many teachers are not okay, but, because they keep showing up, keep smiling and keep quiet— everyone thinks they are just fine.

I can’t deal with the parents that are more upset you didn’t call them to tell them their kid was failing than the kid actually failing. Also, the gradebook is a live document. You can check it at any time.

In May of 1861, 9 year old John Lincoln "Johnny" Clem ran away from his home in Newark, Ohio, to join the Union Army, but found the Army was not interested in signing on a 9 year old boy when the commander of the 3rd Ohio Regiment told him he "wasn't enlisting infants," and

This statement is beyond words! 🤬 How dare you accuse TX public schools of replacing academics when all we do is teach TEAs required TEKS and to your stupid STAAR test. Here’s a novel idea, visit public schools…see for yourself….OH wait, that doesn’t fit YOUR agenda!

Again teachers ARE NOT indoctrinating kids…we don’t have time. Have you seen what they view on tv and their phones??? STOP SLANDERING the great teachers in TEXAS!

Happy Friday! I'm giving away four copies of Saving Sunshine, the graphic novel that Booklist called "heartwarming, funny and bright". Follow me, RT and like for a chance to win. USA only. Ends Sunday night.

If your version of Christianity wants to put prayer in schools but take free lunch out of them, you are worshipping something other than Jesus.

Since we’re talking about the dangers of stuffing college level work on high school students? I’m here to say that we’ve now jammed too much high school work down into the middle school Most of them aren’t ready. All it does is turn them off from school at a sensitive time
