I cannot overstate the importance of the Internet Archive for accessing books that are out of print and otherwise inaccessible…

social science publishing assumes that work that influences policy is more important than work that changes how we imagine & feel. it assumes that we can simply legislate ourself out of this crisis. journals never follow up to see if you implemented the policy recs, performance

it’s disturbing what truth & reconciliation day has turned into. orange shirts at every retail outlet going to who? orange donuts, special discounts, commercialized without any self-reflection. the worst people and companies on earth have co-opted it

Today we observe, not “celebrate”, Orange Shirt Day. It is our Remembrance Day. This day represents many lost children and widespread intergenerational trauma for our communities. Its a time to learn and reflect. #EveryChildMatters

writing is so funny it’s like “this is my favorite thing to do in the world and my dream” “okay then do it right now” “no thanks I would rather do literally anything else”

Why is it that in exploring journals for a paper on health policy, I found one that would be a great fit but would cost me over $3,600 in open access fees!? No one is actually paying that, right? I like OA as much as the next guy, but that’s more than my entire TA stipend.
