Today's fun primary story. A candidate trolled an opponent by rolling up to a polling place with a bullhorn. "Don't vote for him, he's a wife beater." Polls close in an hour.

Spent a whole day at a beer festival today. Got to see Delaware Beer Blog and lots of other folks I haven't seen in a long time. Made a soggy day bearable. PS - I was there to work, not drink. Got to taste some but not much.

This isn't very deep, but I had a friend complaining via text that a Dem candidate beat a more-qualified R (his opinion). I pointed out that unless Republicans openly oppose Trump, they will lose races that should be competitive and some that they would ordinarily win.

Personally, I think in Delaware, people have gotten sick of Republicans, switched parties, and been pleasantly surprised by Dems. We have some good elected officials and getting better.

Non-politics: I just finished Killer Angels and want to plan a trip to Gettysburg. Great book.

When I was in DC a week ago a motorcade went past us. This prompted some discussion about Trump behind me. The woman said "oh he thinks people like him? I CANNOT WAIT TO VOTE!"

I've been trying to binge True Detective. Season 1 was great. Season 2 is killing me.

SD5 was one of the last R held seats in New Castle County. Sen. Kyle Evans Gay unseated the Republican incumbent who held the seat for 20+ years. This district’s D advantage has more than doubled since 2016, but the R incumbent was one of the few Rs who was able to hold on (until Nov.)

It’s a bummer that Canada and the US have extended the border closure for another month. I'll have to plan my vacation for some domestic location this summer.

I'm watching Bill Maher and he seems to have decided that he is only going to have guests that agree with his Covid view. Maybe he's afraid of having someone that challenges his view. Sad.

Look, I am not overly nuts about masking and all things Covid. But "we have to protect the vulnerable" is a completely bullshit "strategy". We need to be smart and careful.

We are definitely engaging in some Covid theater. But the research is definitely in favor of better masks. Poor folks are WAY more likely to have multigenerational home situations. They are then more likely to have grandkids getting their grandparents exposed.

Ya know, now that I think of it, this thoughts and prayers thing doesn't seem to work.

It's doubtful that this is the end of Twitter. It's much more likely that they'll be taken down by some script-kiddie exploiting an unpatched server in 2 weeks or so.
