"I feel for the families whose loved one is reduced to a number, whether that's one or five, or hundreds." @drcwatego says in talking about the number of Aboriginal deaths in custody, what often gets lost is the story of lives of those people taken too soon. #TheDrum

Just a reminder that all over Sydney thousands of freelancers and casual workers are losing work and income right now, and may have nothing coming in for weeks -- for no other reason than the srtructure of their employment relationship. Insecure work is a blight on our society.

Would really love to see a Murri (QLD) community-controlled university. All community-grounded blakfulla researchers and educators. No ATAR entry, just commitment to contribute back to community/their Nation. Graduate pathways into community controlled health, edu, media

Never mind the incarcerated trans and gender diverse people caged at Ravenhall, at least the screws and screw adjacents are feeling included! Awards like this are a fucking joke.

It’s as though the powers that be, knew how bad the situation was and didn’t want any outside eyes on it. In many instances, young ppl were denied basic human rights and were locked in cages for upwards of 20 days (3)

Kevin Yow Yeh (@kevinyowyeh) 's Twitter Profile Photo

That’s 20 days in a watch house, not a detention centre (and there is a difference) - that’s no fresh air, limited natural sunlight and no grass under their feet. Often lights weren’t turned off at night, preventing a good nights rest (if that’s even possible in these cages) (4)

This is barbaric for anyone, but especially concerning for young people with developing brains, whom themselves are often fleeing dangerous homes & situations. Equally concerning, on some occasions watch house phones didn’t work and this meant (5)

Kevin Yow Yeh (@kevinyowyeh) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Families, lawyers and support staff weren’t able to be contacted by young ppl, often meaning they served longer times locked up and with minimal emotional support from family and other trusted people in their circle (6)
