Lea Ravensbergen is right. With significant investment in transit, and active transportation (bike share, bike lanes, sidewalks and trails) many trips under 5 km can be done outside of motor vehicles. Most motor vehicles sit idle (not used) for 95% of the time.

This op-ed by Lea Ravensbergen should be the period at the end of this debate. There will still be work to do, but the path forward at the moment is clearly the right one, and one that Hamilton will regret not having done a decade prior.

Would be great if we applied the same level of design, testing, scrutiny and regulation used for our children's car seats to the bike lanes they ride to school in.

Excited to share this new publication with Raktim Mitra and Sarah Giacomantonio in TR-A highlighting the importance of an intersectional approach to understanding the gender gap in cycling. “There is no one women’s experience”!
