Mālik is said to have a presence that would leave other learned men in awe that they’d never experienced before. It is related from Saʿīd b. Abī Hind (d. 200), Ibn al-Mājishūn (d. 212), Ibn Abī Maryam (d. 224), et al. that even the kings they knew didn’t have the same awe.
