Race photo! Madrid marathon. First marathon for me. Forgot to put cream on shoulders and they have burnt a lot 🫠 shoes fantastic as always.

Carnage at Atocha Station. Waited 5 hours for the train. No information. Broken escalators. Pushing your luggage up a ramp when you have just completed a marathon no ideal. Passengers panicking trying to get on the train , a man was rude to me saying If I was in a parade 😂

Finally in the UK to celebrate my birthday 🌅 yesterday we went to see the Guernica by Picasso in Madrid, had a beautiful cake and went for a short walk of 11 km 🫠😂 legs were saying no energy left and had to rest in El Retiro Park. Still recovering from the marathon.

Race walking a sub 3 hour marathon ✅ Really pleased with a 2:58:57. Wheels came off in the second half as my nervous system felt fried. Hung on though, and very proud of this one!

How long does it take for the heart rate to return to normal after a marathon? I tried to go for a recovery run today and I had to walk 🫠 legs were ok but the heart rate was getting high for a recovery run. 🥴
