Behold NGC 2403 — a stunning spiral galaxy 10 million light-years away in Camelopardalis.🌌✨ Roughly 50,000 light-years across, it teems with massive star-forming HII regions and supernovae. Part of the M81 group, it echoes our Triangulum Galaxy (M33).

Jones-Emberson 1 is a faint planetary nebula in the Lynx, ~1,600 light-years away.🌌✨ This 4 light-year-wide shell marks the death of a Sun-like star. At its heart: a blue-hot white dwarf. Captured in stunning detail after 12+ hrs of exposure

Let's fast forward to billions of years from now! This will be the celestial spectacle when Andromeda and our Milky Way lock in their cosmic dance. (Credit: NASA; ESA; Z. Levay and R. van der Marel, STScI; T. Hallas, and A. Mellinger)

30 seconds on Mars. Enjoy this recent look, courtesy of Curiosity Rover, at the view from the slopes of Mt. Sharp, with the distant rim of Gale Crater on the horizon. You can imagine the quiet, thin wind, or maybe even the waves of a long-gone lake lapping an ancient shore.

Trace the Big Dipper’s handle to its last bright star, then look just south-west—there lies M51, the Whirlpool Galaxy.🌌✨ It comprises NGC 5194 and its companion NGC 5195. Deep-field imaging reveals tidal features and extensive dust lanes

Hello from Mars! 👋 Our NASA's Perseverance Mars Rover rover took a couple of selfies to mark its 1,500th day on the Red Planet—but there's more to these photos than meets the eye. Take a closer look with NASA JPL: go.nasa.gov/439lukW

JWST Spots Zhúlóng: The Oldest Spiral Galaxy Ever Seen🌌✨ Zhúlóng is a grand-design spiral—just like our Milky Way—yet it existed 12 billion years ago, only a billion years after the Big Bang. Mature spirals weren’t supposed to exist this early.

The Andromeda Galaxy is flying towards us at a speed of ~110 km/s! And in 4.5 billion years it will collide with our Milky Way galaxy! These are 2 spiral galaxies, each of which contains hundreds of billions of stars! At the same time, it is unlikely that the stars will collide

The new #SpaceWeatherWoman forecast is up! Watch how quickly a hot longitude on the Sun can stir up X-flares, learn about the coming fast solar wind bringing more #aurora, and see why HF #radio operators groan this week: patreon.com/posts/129889269

Gazing at JW100's ethereal gas streamers fills me with the same wonder I felt under Azerbaijan's starry skies. The universe and our planet share an endless capacity for beauty that leaves me breathless every time.

Seeing the James Webb Telescope's discoveries today reminded me of Baku's moonlit nights - that same sense of wonder when gazing at the Flame Towers glowing against the starry sky. Some marvels are closer than we think.
