Our Oliver Elementary playlist can be accessed by students through our virtual classroom but we have a visual of some of our favorites in the music room!

Today 5th grade listened to good 4 u by Olivia Rodrigo to learn about form. We then made our own song “road map” using xylophone and percussion parts we have been practicing this year. We loved putting all the parts together to make our own song!

I had the opportunity to watch 5th graders give a presentation on the Salmon life cycle to 4th and 6th grades. Our 5th grade is raising salmon eggs in their class fish tanks. What an amazing opportunity to share their learning with the greater Oliver community!

We turned the lights off in 4th and 6th grade and listened to some spooky music 🕸 Students ranked each song based on spookiness, wrote comments, and chose their top 3 contenders for their scary movie.

2nd graders had a chance to express what they heard in the piece “In the Hall of the Mountain King” through drawings. I love all the different ways they saw the sound!

My biggest and best takeaway from the #AntiracistUDL professional development series with Andratesha Fritzgerald (she/her). Everything is a spectrum-- including marginalization. Understanding this deeply helps educators better empower all learners.
