We held our #BSW24 school science fair run by the STEM Committee. Classes shared their learning along with activities from the school STEM experts! Parents came along to see what was happening and had a go at the paper plane challenge NAC_STEM #STEMNation

The 'Arty Builders' team in Primary 6 from Lamlash Primary and Early Years Class and whitingbayprimary were selected by the Primary 7's as the winning entry to represent the schools for the #Academy9 #RoadsOfTheFuture challenge which addressed #UNSDGs and used plenty of #metaskills

Primary 5/6 and 6/7 had a fantastic day with North Ayrshire Ranger Service and NAC_STEM visiting the beach and doing a bioblitz in the playground as part of the 'Go Wild!' resource. It's been a busy week so far with #WorldBeeDay and P6/7 making bee bombs to put in the wildlife garden. Today was #Biodiversity and #NationalNumeracyDay so we combined them with a Micro:bit Educational Foundation coding session to count biodiversity in the playground NAC_STEM #ThisisLife #SDG15

Our Creative Connie won the RHET design a rosette competition. They were spotted at the Royal Highland Show for the champion of each of the 29 breeds of sheep. Jane from RHET AACI came to school to present a copy of the winning design.

Primary 6/7 have been learning about geology and classifying rocks this week. Lots of uses for rocks, careers and links to #SDGs It's amazing though how chocolate can be classified into sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic NAC_STEM

Primary 6/7 are learning about water through Scottish Water Keep Scotland Flowing. They were hydrologists & measured the playground to calculate run off for October. Allowing for some absorption on grass there would have been over 400 cubic metres. NAC_STEM #outdoorlearning

P6/7 have been learning about water & were looking at how water may act in flooding situations by examining the speed & power of water along with saturation of surface & space it fills. This explained what happened in Lamlash last Friday when homes were flooded. NAC_STEM
