And more prevention strategies such as 100% fracture liaison coverage which would relieve a huge burden on the NHS and support quality of life in later years #betterbones Royal Osteoporosis Society

Thank you Andrew Marr and Wes Streeting . The economic evidence of the #betterbones campaign speaks for itself. The impact on the emotional burden of osteoporotic fractures to individuals, less so. I speak from unfortunate experience when I say it would be huge Royal Osteoporosis Society

Absolutely gutted. Fracture liaison coverage across 100% NHS trusts would prevent 1000’s of fractures a year, saving the NHS millions, freeing up hospital beds and protecting quality of life. It’s a no brainer - why is it so difficult to take forward something so simple?

Lots of us out there wondering this morning why this no brainer approach to saving the NHS money and protecting quality of life wasn’t picked up in the Autumn Statement.

Osteoporotic fractures = 2nd biggest blocker of hospital beds! As a country, surely we can join up the dots between the economy, supporting the NHS and overall quality of life, better than this? See daily Mail article below Victoria Atkins Wes Streeting Royal Osteoporosis Society

If there had been greater awareness, perhaps they might have caught me earlier In this week’s Mail on Sunday, Ruth Sunderland shared the stories of five inspirational women who refused to let osteoporosis break them as part of Mail Online’s War on Osteoporosis. dailymail.co.uk/health/article…

Trying my best to not let it break me, but it’s really hard. And the Royal Osteoporosis Society and Ruth Sunderland have no-brainer prevention approaches to OP and nothing is happening with it. Will you create an NHS prevention budget line Wes Streeting?

After months of working with officials on a Transformation Fund for Fracture Liaison Services, to see it blocked by the Treasury is painful & frustrating. While we're grateful to DHSC officials who tried, 90,000 people are still missing life-changing -sometimes life-saving (1/2)

medications. On the eve of International Women's Day, it's a cruel blow to women's health. If the Chancellor doesn't like our proposal we ask what is his, as the NHS is set for £440m of wasted costs over the next 5 yrs and 10,000 people die unnecessarily. Victoria Atkins (2/2)

Another missed opportunity by HMG to introduce the Royal Osteoporosis Society no brainer approach to prevention of a condition that costs the NHS a fortune and causes huge suffering for millions of people every year. Had a huge impact on me… Craig Jones

Have coeliac disease. Had hectic day of meetings and accessing food that is gluten free. Am starving and feeling quite faint. Foolishly thought I’d grab crisps on the late Avanti West Coast 1830 to WBQ. Ha! The shop wont open due to staff shortage. Any solutions Avanti West Coast?

Those in Westminster, esp on right of politics, but all really, could learn a lot from the respect and courteousness that Richard Parker and Andy Street have shown each other during the campaign and tonight after the result was declared. Refreshing, hopeful. Wake up Westminster

1 in 2 postmenopausal women will have osteoporosis. Most will fracture in their lifetime. Pregnancy Associated Osteoporosis (PAO) is a stark reminder to look after your bones #betterpaocare #WorldOsteoporosisDay Osteoporosis IOF Royal Osteoporosis Society Craig Jones

I know money doesn’t grow on trees. But part of the problem with A&E waiting times is no beds on wards to move people into from A&E. So A&E is overcrowded and nurses must look after patients who should have been moved. OP is the second biggest bed blocker people! Treat the cause!
