I lost the Labour whip for voting to scrap the 2 Child Limit. I am pleased that so many people, including Gordon Brown, are now calling for it to go as well. Labour needs to get back to being the party that tackles poverty not one that creates more poverty with benefit cuts.

The first duty of every Labour Government is to support the most vulnerable. Our welfare system is meant to be a safety net - there for all of us when we need it. I'll fight tooth and nail for our welfare state. Solidarity with disabled people against cuts.

This U-turn is the start not the end of a broader process. Members should support this government, but it must be more ambitious to keep us. Sticking to the same normative framework isn't working and to think otherwise is delusional, we cannot race reform to the bottom.

Gordon Brown is right because he knows what our voters do. Labour is a moral mission and the first duty of our Labour government is to help those least fortunate in our society.

If these local elections result and the response since shows anything it's that the trust members put in Labour to Win has been betrayed. Doubling down after these results shows the new right of the party to be the real ideologs.

We must listen to voters and shouldn't pretend immigration won't be the big issue at the next election, but this is Brexit all over again. Anti migration rhetoric won't convince Reform voters because the public knows our values. We need an authentic and progressive alternative.

People are often quick to oppose flat benefits in an attempt to pose themselves as anti-rich, the reality is small benefits like WFA are more cost effective without grading. Our entire system needs a rethink, but there are natural time concerns with this

A big result for all those back benchers who refused to give in to this. Not to forget the original seven who were kicked out for voting against these measures. Politics is about dignity and looking after people.
