Stephen Lecce I honestly don’t understand. You (the person in charge of public education in Ontario) are supporting “normal and stable classrooms” by giving money to parents and cutting per student funding in schools?

Mathew Clancy Ontario NDP Education funding “increased” by changing the definition of what falls under education funding (ie. childcare). Actual funding per student in schools has decreased. I know you all are counting on voters not actually reading the fine print or researching your claims though. #OntEd

I am not an Ontarian, or a teacher, or an education assistant, but I have a perspective on the Ford government’s “Keeping Students in Schools Act”. I was Minister of Education in Alberta for 7 years, including the time the Charter was developed and enacted. #onted #onpoli

The ‘notwithstanding’ provision of the Charter has emerged to become the greatest threat to human, labour & other rights, not only in Ontario, in this moment, but across the country. The Ford government is using it as a free pass ...

to do what it wants without fear of a legal challenge (which may still come). This puts every one of us in the constantly stressful situation of living a precarious existence, without ever knowing when or why a sword may fall. All of us need to find a way out of this quagmire.

I am a huge fan of daily meditation and movement. I know the power of positive thinking and cultivating an attitude of gratitude. But all of the mindfulness and gratitude practices in the world will not fix insufficient staffing and unsustainable workload issues.

We have a problem when biggest board in country provides PD for educators flagrantly contradicting Ontario Human Rights Commission (discouraging a quality phonics program, decodable texts) plus blatant misinformation about screeners (yes, they DO inform instruction). Do better.

None of this is a surprise & the fact that “principals sounding the alarm” grabs the headline emphasizes the problem. Teachers have saying this for years but we are ignored. It’s a system that’s built on contempt for educators with students suffering the most.

you can see very clear attempts across Canada to defund public education, Healthcare etc. and funnel "curated" and "elevated" options towards people with money it's so important that we don't let these foundations of society whither away to become exclusionary profit centers
