At midpoint this week the resident said I’m a white cloud and my partner is a black cloud…I’ve had 2 GSWs, a clamshell thoracotomy, multiple codes (1 with TNK), some STEMIs, and a BRASH patient at 16 bpm and more…just all happening when she’s off over the last 4 days 🤷🏻‍♀️

One of the RNs gave me an iced latte that the coffee cart gave her for free since it wasn’t what she ordered. What she did not tell me was that it had FIVE ristretto shots in it and holy crap I felt weird for like 5 hours. So I’ve normalized my caffeine tolerance apparently!

Appreciate co-workers who physically come down to the ED and tell me to leave for the night since my 3 week vacation starts tomorrow…and then continuing to push me out when I try to stay for the EMS cardiac arrest 15 minutes out 😂

I said goodbye to the best boy a week ago. He let me know he was tired and ready to join his sister across the rainbow bridge 🌈❤️. I miss him terribly but have been adjusting to no dogs at home. 13.5 years will never be long enough, rest easy Chunk.

Is there truly a limit on how many baked goods is too many to travel with long distance? I’m visiting all my old (and some new) favorites in Grand Rapids and I’m likely going to be traveling back with a dozen+ random things…which I’m not mad about. Breakfast this week ✅

Treated myself with a trip to Trader Joe’s after finishing my BCEMP this morning, and now will further reward myself with eating half this loaf of pancake bread and a much needed nap! I would like a few years off from standardized testing now please!

Poison control recommendations are always fun for things you don’t run into too often. Recommending mayonnaise for removing tar, I have never seen a more confused nurse when told we needed to request a lot of mayo be brought down 😂

And in today’s “What is going to make me a stroke alert in my own ED?”…finding a chart in my culture follow ups saying “Urine culture growing pseudomonas aeruginosa and is susceptible to tobramycin. Will treat with fosfomycin.” 😭🥴😑

You know how busy/bad of a day it was in the ED when you come home to inhale half a pizza, 5 breadsticks, and a Crumbl cookie…because all you’ve eaten was this morning’s cereal 😮‍💨😴

Interesting Day 1 for the week: Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, West Nile Virus, 100 mg IV push ketamine for “pain”….only one of these scenarios almost gave me a stroke 🤦🏻‍♀️

One of my ED docs asks “what kind of charcoal do we have?” and I very quickly responded with “Activated”. Very grateful that everyone knew it was 6:30pm on day 7 of a black cloud week from hell and it was an answer of exhaustion and not me trying to be sassy

Cefidericol has been the bane of my existence today….

A very bittersweet last day with a lot of hugs and goodbyes, my time at IU Health Bloomington is finished and I am on to my next exciting adventure! Any ED pharmacists looking for a solid, very pro-pharmacy position and Emily Pavich, PharmD, BCEMP as your partner, position is still posted!

New job starts Monday (excited and nervous) but looks like I’ll have more weekend time than I’m used to during the orienting period, so if anyone has any recommendations for Atlanta, let me know! Going to use my free time to explore the city!

When the 10pm intubation turns into the 10:25pm panic of figuring out if we can order Andexxa 😭😭. I’m so tired and this is such a slow process and my shift ended at 10:30 🥴

I have had to have the same discussion about not using cephalosporins in enterococcus with three different doctors for the same patient over the course of my day. Clearly none of them played telephone growing up…or just give horrible hand off 😑
