Shane sampled water in Langley last spring for his final research project. PAHs are a pollutant to many ecosystems, and a carcinogenic substance to humans. Through water and soil/sediment sampling, he sought to identify if a significant source pollutant is located in the region.

During her Co-op with the BC Min of Envi and CC Strategy, Rebecca participated in a sampling program of 8 sites throughout Burrard Inlet to assess water health for contaminants such as microbiology, nutrients, metals, 6PPD-quinone, PAHs, as well as the presence of chlorophyll-a.

An EPT student samples the skʷƛ̓əma:ɬ stál̕əw̓ (Coquitlam River) as part of a joint project between EPT, KPU Biology, and Kwikwetlem First Nation. Monitoring the river for pollutants is vital to ensure that the river’s salmon have a heathy ecosystem.
