A1. I don't believe so. I feel we've MADE it seem the same. I always tell my students math is real world. I explain the various way I - and others - need to problem-solve in our worlds. #2ndchat

A2. We use Eureka Math in our district. Word problems are taught using RDW (Read-Draw-Write). I'd say it follows this typical model. #2ndchat

A2. We always highlight "What we know" and underline "what we're trying to find out." We talk through what is not important (all the unnecessary words!) #2ndchat

A3. I think that might depend on the student. For many, it might help. However, I have one student in mind currently who struggles w/reading, yet is very smart! He has great listening compr. & sees in big pictures. I think this would confuse him not help. #2ndchat

A5. Now THIS happens a lot in my classroom. The best part is letting the kids tell how they SEE it and how they THOUGHT it. I love to watch them share their thinking...it naturally leads to this. #2ndchat
