Political Science grieves the loss of one our greatest thinkers, Hanna Pitkin. To honor her contributions to the field, we will be posting articles from our journal that engage with her work in this thread.

Congratulations to Asper Centre West Coast LEAF and LEAF (Women's Legal Education and Action Fund) in prevailing in their argument at the SCC to have the section 15 issues adjudicated in the Safe Third Country Challenge and have the Court explicitly state that Section 15 is not lower tier

I have an article coming out in TMU Law Review. It considers when litigants should be granted public interest standing to challenge legislation on the basis that it has a chilling effect on people's ability to exercise their Charter rights and freedoms: papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cf…

« No more kids in tents. » I wrote a piece in honour of Shuah Roskies, the best person I have ever known. Shuah dedicated her life to fighting for the rights of kids aging out of foster care in #Ontario - the most vulnerable in our society. theglobeandmail.com/canada/article…

If you are also outraged at the idea of foster kids in #Ontario, one of Canada’s wealthiest provinces, being issued *tents* when they age out of care, and think we can do better, please consider a donation to StepStones, where Shuah worked. stepstonesforyouth.com

Hot off the virtual presses: a piece by Anna Lund and me on the use of the corporate oppression remedy in religious organizations - canlii.org/en/commentary/… We propose a method for courts to integrate the oppression remedy with Charter values - let us know what you think!

There is much to ponder in #VuntutGwitchinFN, but an immediately notable feature of the decision (and relevant to this week's open letter by Jean Charest& others) is the civility with which the members of the Court disagree on consequential and contentious points of law.
