Frank Gehry’s Luma Arles will be the literal high point of a new “creative campus” called Luma Arles, a multidisciplinary art and culture complex sprawling over 27 acres. We need a Māori version of this for Auckland. theguardian.com/artanddesign/2…

With everything I have seen on council, I am now amazed that any housing gets built at all. Everything is stacked against it. And a lot is also stacked against pro-housing councillors. Thankfully we won some good changes on spatial plan.

So much good and so much bad and also some things wonderful: the news about Queen St, my nzherald column tomorrow (Pic: Is Auckland Council about to adopt the proposals for Queen St by the outstanding artist Chris Dews?)

This is very reminiscent of the late Rewi Thompson’s design for John Bank’s competition for Queens Wharf. archdaily.com/964662/mad-arc…

"New Form of Engagement The Chungnam Art Museum will provide a new form of interactive engagement between art and the public. It does this by turning the museum inside out... creat[ing] a diverse and vibrant cultural experience." Not Auckland unstudio.com/en/page/15272/…

What would be the single most effective way to reduce driving in the inner city and surrounding suburbs? How about eliminating company car parks? Just keep the few where the need is real. My column tomorrow, nzherald

Big ups to Cr Jo who has had a hard time from the small anti-vax fringe but continues to work for the wellbeing of her community. Great courage and service, and we all back you Jo.

Very pleased to confirm the appointments of @ngar1mu & Tracey Martin to the Waka Kotahi Board. Both have strong governance skills & a real commitment to a safer, more resilient, decarbonised transport network. gazette.govt.nz/notice/id/2021…

The extremely wonderful Hundertwasser NZ -not open yet but almost there! This is going to do amazing things for Whangarei. As truly great as this is, we've built a celebration of a European artist who adopted Northland as his home before we've built a nt'l Centre of Māori Culture.

I just came to this. Matthew Tukaki is an awesome human being and stood up for equality and the rights of his people. I’m ashamed of my fellow countrymen for the response they have demonstrated. Just know you have a lot of support out here, Matthew.

This is happening in China. Imagine something like this celebrating and nurturing modern Māori culture… dezeen.com/2025/01/06/zah…
