I have always wondered how the word gègé came to mean all things pen (pencil, ball point pen e.t.c). Yesterday, it finally dawned on me that the word likely came from the verb "gé" to cut, and was likely initially coined for the 'pencil' –– gègé: to cut down/to sharpen.

Kikọ typography. We all need a little impudence to go against the grain, it's an evolutionary tale. No matter how collectivists a society can be, they need bold individuals. It doesn't always mean being disrespectful, but rather knowing there is a better alternative.

Translators of the "Yorùbá Bible in modern (today's) tongue" need to adopt this in their next edition release

If you bemoan historical experiences while not being honest in understanding the part played (and still being played) by members of your own, you will always be a pawn on the chessboard of the other.
