Nice evening for some astrophotography. Caught Jupiter and 4 of its moons (Callisto, Ganymede, Io and Europa) passing close to our own moon.

I only discovered Apple TV's #ForAllMankind this year, and am so glad I did. Recently finished watching seasons 1 - 4. Great to see season 5 has just been confirmed. If you haven't seen any of it yet, there are 40 brilliant episodes waiting for you online. apple.com/tv-pr/news/202…

Yay! First points on the 2024 All-Ireland Hillwalking Championships leaderboard. I'm currently in first place, but not expecting to still be top at the end of today. @hipointireland

Anybody know what this insect is? It's about 5cm long and just appeared on a tree which underwent major surgery this morning.

Walked up the Annalong Valley in the #MourneMountains yesterday from Carrick Little to the Brandy Pad. On the return leg, I took a detour back down alongside the river. After 27 years of exploring the Mournes, they can still throw the occasional surprise my way.

Nice clear skies over #Belfast last night. Saw the #aurora with my own eyes about 10pm, so set up the @gopro to record a 3-hour timelapse. Here are some images and a short video clip from about midnight.

I've walked past this spot in the western Mournes a few times over the last year, but never noticed these "ROSS" and "Killinory" rock carvings before. Very neat work that must have taken a while.

Took an early walk up #Divis this morning in the Belfast Hills to watch the first sunrise of 2025. Sharing this experience with my son made it all the more special. The Ireland Walking Guide #HappyNewYear.

Had a lovely day out walking in the Mournes today and chatting with some of the people I met along the way. Today's summits were Doan, Slieve Meelbeg, and Slieve Loughshannagh. The Ireland Walking Guide High Point Ireland

This very handy new footbridge at Lough Shannagh means walkers no longer have to leap over the stream. Anyone know how long it's been there? Visit Mourne WalkNI
